This is a splendid water bottle for the price. However, I do not recommend using it to transport your favorite cocktail through airport security. Also, beer does not taste right when you drink it from a stainless steel vessel such as this one.
Steve – Thanks for the heads up! I bought 2 of these bottles a few months back, but I have yet to drink any cocktails out of them. I would love to see some of the 17oz bottles come back around b/c the 27oz is just a little too tall to fit in my treestand bag.
Kendall, I just had an test pushed out to me stating that a 1.25 Thor spotlight is up, but yet when I check it is the princeton light still? Im sure the Thor light couldnt have came up yet as the text for the Thor was well after the princeton? I hafe had this happen before and was advised is was because an item sold out “before” I was able to go online and by then the next item in que had replaced the previous? Make sense, or is all this “firing” making me crazy?
Dave – we only had a handful and yes, they sold out that fast. The Piranhas are hungry today!
Sorry, I’m confused still. First text 8:37am is for the Princeton light, still avail to purchase right now. Then second text comes for the Cyclops at 9:17am but yet the Princeton is still up. When was the cyclops even up for sale if the Princeton has and is currently still up? Did the Cyclops “interrupt” the Prineton and then the Princeton is back up again? And nope, Im not a Blonde!
dave,
I had the same thing happen to me today and I’ve had this happen before as well. Seems that you really can’t trust the text messages very much on the hot items that sell out quickly.
I think the system may be sending out the text on the hot item and then before it gets all the texts sent out the item sells out. It then switches to sending out texts on the new item and then after it gets all those sent out it goes back and finishes sending out texts on the item that has already sold out giving some of us false hope.
Or maybe there are just gremlins in the system!
npaden, thanks! Im glad it wasnt just me seeing this and your right it is not the first time it has happened to me either. I have ran to the computer to buy a specific item after receiving a text only to see it was the item that had been up for hours and the item that I received the text was not to be seen. Thanks!
Maybe we can pay someone off to be first on the list of the text send outs!
Hah! npaden, you were reading my mind, I just thought better of saying it as someone may not appreciate/understand my humor? However I just sent a “campaign contribution” to Kendall to make an “arrangement” to do just that.
I just now refreshed the Camofire page and see the water bottle is back up “again” Im losing it, I think? Kendall where are you, I need to provide an explaanation to my therapist about all of these quirky things that I have been seeing since I discovered camofire.
I figured seeing the bottle back up would make a few guys do a double take. Since they sold out so wicked fast overnight and a number of guys in the past have said they keep missing out on the first item, I wanted to try something and bring back the first item mid day.
The text messaging is an ongoing love/hate for us. It would shock most folks if they knew how expensive it is to send text messages to thousands of people at once. There are better services out there but it’s a trade-off when an item may be up for only 1 hour with limited items available and we just dropped $200+ to send a text out about that item. So, we keep working with the company that provides our text service to make it better. Sure, a few Gremlins monkey with it from time to time, but *most of the time it works well. Go Nudge has been awesome to work with and we continually see them making improvements.
Lost in all this is the cell phone provider that continues to change their systems making it harder to keep the texts rolling smoothly all the time. Anyway, that doesn’t explain the paranormal experiences you’re having with your text alerts, but hopefully gives you a little insight.
Ya’ll are just losing your gourds! Haha I guess you guys will have to be like me. I cant go longer than a half hour without having to just check. This goes on all day long, good thing my paycheck doesn’t come from getting alot of actual product done. Woohoo for playing maytag man! THANK GOD FOR IPHONE. somedays I won’t get a text all day long then come like 4pm and I’ll get them all at once. So I rarely miss a deal now. But it’s a trade to cause people with a mouse and a real keyboard can smoke me in the ordering process on those really hot deals!!!
I had to get rid of the text messaging service. It was driving me crazy. I would guess about 40 % of the texts I received were items that were not currently for sale because of the delay. Add to the fact that my phone is my alarm clock, I found that I would roll out of bed at the sound of a text, realize it was a Camofire deal, go to check it out and find item in text was not there, etc. etc. After an ensuing tantrum in the form of an “aw shucks” and possibly a stubbed toe. I would go back to bed, then possibly get up and check again in case I hadn’t refreshed properly, yada yada, grumble, grumble. Needless to say, it was quite aggravating. I can’t say I am diligent enough to check every half hour, but I check as often as I can think about it.
bring on some arrows
Kendall, what about using the RSS feed to send out email alerts each time a new item comes up instead of using the text alerts? Most of us have our emails forwarded to our phones already anyway. I guess it might clutter up the site with a bunch of extra posts though.
I’m still don’t get a text stating what item is up on my droid x. All I get is the % off and camofire.com. I emailed a couple weeks ago, was told “will look into it” and have heard nothing since. I tried canceling them and signing up again but nothing changes.
