After a few comments about the Sitka pants yesterday (I know a lot were jokes) I got thinking about when to say when on a deal and move on. Some customers don’t like multiple items a day, others are chomping at the bit for multiple items each day.
With that in mind, and a little comedy on top of that, here is a poll to give us some sense of how long to leave a deal going even if guys are still buying.
The system is flawed! It told me that I can’t vote repeatedly, although I’ve not yet voted. I must say, I’m certainly in favor of multiple daily items. Essentially, if there’s a hot-seller, the sizes that fit me are out by morning anyways. In that regard, I wouldn’t mind seeing more selection. Also, I think you might start to gain more attention (more frequent site visits) with more offerings.

I tired to vote and it says you can’t vote repeatedly. I was voting for driving to the city. Although it’s not really that bad it just sucks to see those monster sizes hold up a item all day. But I do understand you have business plan and have to do what works for you. It’s just too bad there are no smaller sizes are available. I still love the site but maybe you can pull those big sizes and maybe run them for like an hour at random time to keep people checking. Add a little surprise to the game kind of like SAC .While also getting things sold. Just an idea I don’t know how labor intensive it is to do.

Here, here, Jeremy. I also can never get my size in the items I want because I do not wear tents for pants. Multiple items available at the same time sounds like a winner.

It doesn’t bother me that much.I understand you have to make deals with the manufacters in order to get these great deals.If sometimes you have alot more large sizes than smaller,it’s O.K. because maybe next week you may have more smaller sizes.
So,keep up the good work,even if you only run one item a day!And I’m bent I won’t have access to the site for the next five days!!!!!

I was more disappointed that I missed out on my size by the time I saw the pants were available, especially since I bought one of the zip-up Sitka T’s the other day. Darn!
That aside, I can relate to the folks that thought it was “painful” to see the larger sizes up there all day, potentially holding up the listing of a new item. But such is life, ya know. I can understand why the system is the way it is. So I just deal with it.
Having said that, in the future, perhaps you could base the idea of “sold out” on proportions of sizes sold on sales figures from the past. Let’s say for example, that from previous sales on pants, you’ve noticed that generally speaking 50% of overall sales are for size large, 30% are XL, 15% are mediums, and 5% are XXL. So instead of leaving the less popular sizes there all day, you could pull the item when the most popular size, large, is completely gone and the other sizes are in the neighborhood of their typical percentages of overall sales… then pull it, since you’ll know at that point that interest in that item is probably done anyway.
To use real numbers, let’s say you have 100 pieces of each of the 4 sizes I listed above, so 400 total. You manage to sell 200 total pairs of pants. About halfway through the day, all 100 pieces of size large are gone because it’s the most popular. Looking at previous sales figures on pants, you know that the XXL’s are only going to represent about 5% of the total items sold, which would be 10 in this example. So when the larges are gone, as expected, and the XXL’s are right there around 9,10,11 or so, you pretty much know the sale on those pants has run it’s course.
I’m new to camofire.com, as of a few days ago. One of the things that surprised me, was the fact that previously listed items that didn’t sell out aren’t still for sale somewhere else on the site… unless I’m not seeing it. Thanks! This is fun.

What your thoughts on a thread post, so we can discuss hunting tip and tactics. A discussion board would be great for this site. First topic: How do you save weight on you high country hunts? I modify leave essentials and still have to much weight, especially on the way out. Just thought I would throw it out there. I think there are some hardcore hunters on here and I think it would add to the site?? Maybe I am way off base just an idea.

Everyone look at Steep and cheap this runs the same way and it works great. Give them time to get roleing and I see great thing in the crystal ball in front of me. You cant do 50 items a day if you only have 50 items for the next few months. I believe this is the problem and when more companys get on board we will see more items a day and more brands jsut be greatful for what you got now spread the word and be thankful. I have saved hundreds of dollars in the past few months so no matter what they do I am PUMPED.

I propose the option of two simultaneous items. If you have one item that is XXXL only, throw something up that is M-L only (if available.) Perhaps this will satisfy the masses?

After a lot of thought I have figured it out…………. The answer is I will send you a wish list along with sizes. Then you can email me and tell me before you put it up and I will finalize my Divorce before I am married. You are sure to keep me happy if you just put my wish list of items up one at a time each day. I think this will solve my problem. What are your thoughts. One more thing can you also ship it for free that would be great. Just my 1.02 cents. PS my Fiancé thinks its great you do one item a day and also that you sometimes don’t have my size. Maybe its your secret plan to keep all of us camojunkies married so we don’t have to give all our money to X’s preventing us from buying stuff on here. Maybe you do know what your doing??
