Anyone use a Modal type sock over other sock materials that can share a valid opinion. Been looking for some over the calf socks on here, but I’m not familiar with this material and any related performance issues.

I can’t say for socks, but I’ve got a pair of boxers, and a T-shirt made with modal, and they are extremely soft, and very comfortable. Seems to be very good at wicking and keeping cool. Just went on a Mtn bike ride in 30C and didn’t even feel the claustrophobia of heat. Just my 2c.

Honestly Trick, I think that merino gets too much press and limelight. Modal is tops in my book for softness and comfort with wicking. I wear the work sock from Lorpen because it has modal. Unfortunately modal doesn’t have an industry behind it like merino to tell the story.

Clay – Not sure if you saw this note that I posted in the forum a week ago, but here is the not so good news:
Core4 rain gear won’t be here until middle of Sept. Two things beyond their control caused the tremendous delay –
1. YKK was a month late delivering the waterproof zippers that will be on the legs. There was a chance for Core4 to use a different brand but since YKK is the best and has the best reputation, the decision was to not change zipper brand.
2. There was a Typhoon this last week in China where the factory for rain gear is located and they lost all power in that area and the manufacturing plant had 1-2′ of water in it. They’re working to get it back online and building gear. As I find out more info I’ll pass it along. That said, if anyone is waiting for rain gear and needs it sooner than at least mid-late Sept, I’d look for a plan B….sadly.
In better news about rain gear, 2 guys from Utah were up in NWT hunting sheep and got back a couple of weeks ago. They took with them some pre-production samples of the rain gear to test and although they only had two rain days, their reviews and feedback was double thumbs up. I’m grateful it wasn’t rainy here in Utah on the opener yesterday like it was 4 years ago when it snowed!

Opener was awesome for me. Had a heart breaker when I missed the chance at a nice 5×5 (combination of taking a nap and “bull-fever” and then missed a shot at the biggest spike I’d ever seen as I shot my bow hit the log I placed in front of me for a ground blind – arrow went right under him. 45 yard chip shot. Almost got run over by a posse of cow elk headed to water…it was an awesome opener. Oh yea, found 2 MONEY wallows that I’m going to sit on later this week. One of them was in the dark and I just managed to stumble upon it and as I was observing fresh mud slung across the area and marking the spot on my GPS I had a bull grunt at me. “Oh sorry, I must be interrupting you” I said and hustled down the canyon to my vehicle. Feeling solid about my odds of the branch antlered bull in the Uintas and grateful for my scouting efforts paying off. How about you Mike?

Wow sounds like you struck gold! Maybe there’s a reason for the miss. Must be a monster out there waiting for you. Sound like a great weekend! I spent the weekend trying to get all my chores done. I was unlucky in the draw for my home state (elk) but was lucky enough to get archery deer. Won’t be out till the holiday weekend. Then out for my girlfriends second attempt at archery elk (lucky!!). And I’ll be calling. Gotta get out to the woods! I can’t wait! Good luck!

Wish I knew but I did catch wind that they were trying to get it to us so we could offer it around $125 or less for the jacket and the same for the pant. I’ve got fingers crossed for under $200 for the set, but not sure if that’ll happen.
