Product: TIMBER HAWK KILLSHOT BACKPACK
Regular Retail Price: $189.00
Camofire Price: $96.00 – 49% OFF
Description:
Take one look at the new Killshot in Realtree AP camo, and you’ll know the guys who built it are not new to hunting. At 3,000 cubic inches, this pack is perfectly designed to accommodate enough gear for a couple of nights in the woods, in any terrain, any time of the year. But it’s also the perfect size for those half-day hunts, thanks to the Raptor compression straps, which to reduce the pack to a third of its normal size.
Making the real killshot is up to you, but with this pack you’ll be ready to load up a boned-out deer and make the hike back to the truck all the easier. At six pounds the Killshot is the lightest pack in its size category.
Features include the Hawk-Eye binocular strap system, Silent Stalk quick-ejection clips for dropping the pack in a hurry, blaze orange pull-out rain fly, bottom and top lashing points for external storage, drop-down scabbard for secure rifle storage, internal spotting scope sleeve, dual shoulder strap pockets for radios, phones and GPS. And like most other Timber Hawk packs, this model comes with a two-liter hydration bladder, and can carry a bow in several different ways.
The Killshot is the real deal for archery or rifle hunters.

Any chance a guy might see a badlands pack in the next few days?

Not likely. We’ve got nothing by the way of Badlands on the schedule this week or next. Seriously, we have hunted with the guys from Timber Hawk and seen this pack in action – it’s as solid as the Badlands packs (at least in my opinion) and easier on the wallet.

Is the scabbord barrel up or barrel down and how easy is access? The pack looks fairly wide where a BDS 2200 is narrow – since you’ve seen in action does it appear to affect travel balance of hunter much or pack slop around?

Kevin – I’m not sure about the scabbord barrel since I only saw it with a bow on it. I’ll have Mike from Timber Hawk chime in. Regarding width – funny you should mention the 2200 which is what I was using the day Mike and I hunted together. It is wider than the 2200 but it didn’t look like it was so wide that it swayed side-to-side. I was surprised how well it carried and how compact it could become as we hiked miles through some rugged terrain in search of elk. Check out their website for additional photos of the pack in action.

Just doing my “job” Chris.
Raingear – yea, we’ve got the Rubline Pant from Realtree coming up. It’s a solid Goretex rain pant and jacket. I know we’ve got the pants, not sure off the top of my head about the jacket. We’ll have it in Max 1 camo which will be perfect for AZ.

Hey guys, I can answer some questions about the killshot.
There’s a three-year warranty on all Timber Hawk products. As far as a frame goes, the Killshot has an aluminum stay going up the center of the backboard, which is reinforced by a plastic sheet, plus there’s a rainbow shaped delron (plastic) rod going around the perimeter of the pack, on the inside. This pack wasn’t designed to haul as much meat as a frame pack, but if you bone out your deer or elk, you should be able to get 60 pounds in there, and I know a few guys who’ve put a lot more in . . .

A couple more things:
The fabric on the killshot is waterproof, but because of all the seams and zippers, your stuff will not stay dry in a downpour, unless you use the pull-out rain fly, which comes with the pack.
If you want to see other info, or demo videos for the Hawk-Eye binocular system, also included with the killshot, check out http://www.timberhawkgear.com

Thanks Mike for chiming in. In case anyone wonders, Mike is also a good author/writer aside from a dedicated hunter – http://www.timberhawkgear.com/2009/08/my-2008-archery-bull/

Got the pack and can not wait to use it. Looks great and way better than I expected for the money. Bought for a day pack only but can see where it could be used for a 2 day pack in trip easily..

Seth – VERY good chance the Timberhawk Killshot will be up this month. In fact, put the 8th and the 18th on your calendar for Timberhawk packs. 2 items each of those days.

Seth – no paypal on the site. It’s our backup plan if things go down, but their fees are steep.

Seth – Credit Card – Visa, MC, Disco, Amex. Pull the Trigger and lay some plastic down. Yea, it’s a bit old fashioned but it works smooth.

Seth – shipping is based on your location and the weight of the item. Likely going to be around $10 or so. Ask the guys here in the forum – anyone remember how much you paid shipping on this pack?
