Regular Retail Price: $44.99
Camofire Price: $19.59 – 56% OFF
Description:
Do you really need all that stuff and that monster pack when you’re only going to venture a short distance from camp on a day hunt? Don’t wait for a situation like forgetting your pack at home to make you try a light and fast fanny pack like the Back Strap from Timber Hawk.
Although it’s the smallest pack in the Timber Hawk line, the Back Strap is big on performance as well as fit and function. This model is perfect for hunters who prefer to travel light with 340 cubic inches of space in the main pack area with two very useful and handy pockets on the waist strap that fit small items like a cow call or pocket knife. The external compression straps allow you to secure items like a jacket or bugle.
This little pack was designed with the old Boy Scout motto in mind: ‘Be Prepared.’

Lord, help me! I may just get my Man Card revoked because I just bought a fanny pack! Words I never thought I’d say!
Well, I guess that just goes to show how much I like Timber Hawk packs. I bought it to stash extra buzz baits, rubber worms, and extra essentials while bass fishing farm ponds and not wanting to lug my whole gear bag around with me. It should work well….as long as no hot chicks see me wearing it!

What are the chances of you getting the Timber Hawk Gut Hook 3.0?
Love the site, a friend told me about it last week and it’s addictive. I have the Sitka Celsius vest on order.

In the words of Big John and Phil…..”Lord, help me!”….and ….”it’s addictive.” Yes, I’m hooked on Camofire.
I ordered this fanny pack to compliment the KillShot pack I purchased last month. Timber Hawk packs are amazing!!! BUT…there are two more “voids” in my pack collection.
One is the Rut Buster and the other is the Gut Hook 3.0.
Kendall….that makes three for the Gut Hook 3.0!!!
We NEED that Gut Hook…..we NEED a fix!!!
So….for every one you know about (and there are 3 for sure) there are 10-20 folks lurking about in the shadows.
Please have pity on these poor souls.

Hate to leave a bad review but it must be done. I bought two of these a while back. I’ve hunted with one 3 times now and it has been a letdown. The buckle arrangement for tightening the straps down works poorly. I get maybe 100 yards before having to stop and retighten because it has worked itself loose and drops off my hips. I guess if you are walking to a tree stand it would be ok but if you do any kind of stalking, I’d look elsewhere. I’d Ebay these things but I don’t want to pass a bummer onto the next guy. They’ll sit in my garage until the buyers remorse fades enough to throw them out.

Steve, Hey, if a review is the truth, be it bad or good, we want to hear about it. It only helps other buyers. We may think twice about buying more of them. Sorry about that.

Steve,
That’s probably the first bad review I’ve ever heard on a Timber Hawk pack. Thanks for the heads-up.
Check something out for me though. Look on the straps through the buckles and make sure they are not put through backwards. This sounds like exactly what is happening. There is no way the packs should be coming loose and making sure they aren’t threaded through the buckles backwards is definitely worth a look.

Big John,
I went ahead and reversed the buckles just to check it out. That isn’t the problem. If they are backwards they really slide right off. Like I said, I get a hundred yards or so before it slides loose. Also compared it to the other one I have that is still in the plastic. They are identical. I probably should clarify that when I stalk/scout I’m putting in a couple miles in a full day. Like I said, I’d probably be fine just going to the stand. My other gripe about the straps is the velcro that holds the slack end back on itself. My problem is that with a jacket, rain shell, and gloves on…I have to undo the buckles and do a total readjust. Just trying to reach down and grab the slack to pull it tight is an exercise in futility if you’re wearing any other gear. If you undo the velcro then you have scratchy noises from it rubbing your coat. If anyone is not happy with their Badlands monster fanny let me know and I’ll trade you 2 Timberhawks just to try something different. Firt bad review I’ve left on anything and I’ve spent over $1K here on Camofire in the past 3 months and more elsewhere gearing up for an AK hunt.

I received my 2 BACKSTRAP fanny packs today and they are not the same as pictured or according to description. No external straps.
Just wondering where my extra gear like jacket or bugle tube should attach as mentioned with no straps only a couple sewn in loops.
Did I see 2010 model shown but received the 2009 instead?????
The items I received differ from what is pictured…….

Steve,
I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t find a solution. Sounds like the pack has been nothing but problems.
All I can say now is to contact Timber Hawk Customer Service and tell them about your issues. I have spoken to them before and they have always been really helpful.
I hope you get things resolved. Good luck!
John
