Whats the story on this Vanguard brand? It kinda got the appeal of Dick’s Sporting Goods “Field and Stream” brand. Is it one or two seasons and replace type gear or is it quality long lasting stuff?

Mike – good question. Vanguard optics are what we feel a “top end of the price point brands”. China made optics, but they are built solid, good glass and enough features to bring onto Camofire. Their tripods however are seriously solid, best tripods for the $ and better than other “high” end brands. Their bow and gun cases are awesome too. So all around, a price point brand with good to awesome products across the board.

Ordered these and the matching pants per Kendall’s recommendation for some good ole Oregon fall hunting and they just showed up. Fit is great, quality seems top-notch, and they are indeed pretty quiet for a waterproof piece of gear! If only it would rain, I could give some feedback on the waterproofness of this sweet set of hunting gear! Bring it on!

Kendall first congrats on doing the double elk thing this year! Just wondering if you had any more of the big game jackets coming back anytime soon. I keep missing sitka and thinking about the Realtree stuff to get by til whenever. It would be much simpler if I filled my tags in Sept though

Thanks Rick. Double elk archery in my second year archery hunting is over the top! Sure I worked my tail off but I didn’t think it’d come together so nicely.
As for the Big Game, we just got more in. If you really need it asap, drop us a line. If not they should show around the end of Nov..ish.

I did some research on the Team Real Tree and the Sitka. As far as actually being water proof, the Team Real Tree takes the cake. I’ve got this and the Light as well. Both jackets are outstanding. Only issue i’ve had is the velcro cuff is just glued, no stitch. Otherwise, jacket it solid. Warm, 100% waterproof, quiet and super comfy. Arms are a little tight at first, but they break in. I’m so pleased with the Big Game series I went with the Waterfowl stuff as well. Haven’t used it yet, but I’m not worried about the quality. Many thanks Kendall for such a great site! My wife isn’t so happy with this however…
