Description:
The EP4 Sonic Defender Earpieces protect your hearing without interfering with your ability to hear routine sounds or conversations. Their triple-flange stem design fits larger ear canals and provides a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 24dB. Sounds, at safe levels, are allowed to pass through into the ear canal, while potentially harmful noises (above 85dB) are reduced to safe levels via a proprietary design that incorporates the patented Hocks Noise Braker filter.
EP4s include attached stopper plugs, which can be inserted for further protection and blocking out lower-level noise, like that heard on a plane, where hearing ambient sounds or conversations isn’t critical. The right/left color-coded Sonic Defenders Plus are made from a soft but durable, hypoallergenic polymer and are ergonomically shaped, with an adjustable-stem design, providing a secure fit, all-day comfort, and extended product life (3 to 6+ months, depending on usage and care). And their low-profile design means they can be worn while wearing a helmet or mask, or while using a phone or headset. Available in clear or black.

Couldn’t be more dissapointed in these ear plugs. I took them out to the range last week, and it was like there was nothing in my ear. I read all of the intructions, and opened my ear drum by lifting on the ear with the opposite hand and placing the plug into the ear canal. It was a dissapointment to say the least. I will continue to play with them on the lawn mower, but for now, my 10 cent orange plugs work 10 times better.

Good feedback Jeff, thanks for sharing your results. I’ve used them with the snowblower and they worked well for me, but then again I’m half deaf from all the concerts I attended in my younger years. Did you have the little plug thingy in?

Yeah, I had the plug closed, it just didn’t seem to dampen any sound at all. I’ll keep trying to use them, and I will update the review if it does get better, but im not too optimistic.

Right on Jeff. I’m sure glad to have the feedback as this is why the forum is here – good or bad, feedback on products is ideal.

not to discredit your experiance with them, but I just used them today with what I thought was the same results. that was until i took them out. they do not block all the sound out but we went through 5 cases of clay pigeons today and I left without rining ears so they did work well for me, but ya the orange ones everyone else was wearing did the job also. I just looked more like a pro even though my shooting proved that wrong. they are to me alot more comfy than the orange ones that I can never get to seal properly

Brian – thanks for the feedback. At least you looked like a pro today! 5 cases? Wow, you got it done. When I go shooting with my son’s it’s all we can do to plow through 1 case and then I’m ready to call it quits. Then again, we’ve not been this summer and the last time we went there was snow on the ground which was awesome because the ones we missed we simply went out and retrieved for a 2nd and sometimes 3rd try with them.
Again, thanks for sharing your experience with these.

The little orange ear plugs have a better noise reduction ratio than even most over the ear muffs. I’m also curious about the element jacket?

Justin – they are only made in Mountain Mimicry and I heard last week Max 1 is coming. I’ll push them to make it in AP.
