Optifade Open Country

Optifade Forest

Description:
As the weather gets colder you’ll have need of a lightweight base layer bottom to keep your legs and other locations below the belt warm and comfy. The Sitka Core Base Layer made with Polartec Power Dry material is high performance for hunters on the move as it provides a good fit with both moisture control features and scent elimination. When the cold chill of an fall or spring hunt call for just a bit more than your Ascent pants, slip on the Core bottoms. The performance fabric will wick moisture away from your body and dry quickly so you don’t get the chills when you stop to glass a big bull elk from the ridge line. Ditch the old school long johns and get with the program by layering with the best from Sitka.

Justin – yes, I was trying to get it on the site today, but apparently it wasn’t received into the warehouse yet. I’m on the road – Archery Trade Show this week and SHOT show next with Outdoor Retailer show next weekend. Busy times, but we’ll get those packs on there soon!

I purchased two sets of these last year. I don’t like to write bad reviews but these base layers are not that good. Granted these are for mild temperatures or on days where you are hiking a lot and exert a lot of effort thereby sweat. They wick moisture OK but I find the fit to be way way off. I’m six foot and the pant ends at my mid calf. The inseam is short as well and the elastic doesn’t hold form very well.
Sitka makes good outer wear but base layers they really miss the mark.

James – thanks for posting your feedback. We keep this an open forum for all types of feedback as long as they are objective…which yours is. I agree on the length as I’m 6’4″ and these are not meant for long legged creatures like myself. My experience has been that they do perform quite good, but I’m a merino fan and the merino base layers in my opinion are worth the extra $$.

I’m 5’10” and the L is perfect length for me. Of course, I usually have Mid-Calf length merino wool socks on, so even if they didn’t reach below my ankle, you are still covered. I’ve worn the full Core base layer pheasant hunting, and I felt like they were great at wicking…never got that clammy/sweaty feel. Also, my pants got a little wet the last time out and the base layer did a great job at keeping the moisture away from my skin…I could feel my pants were wet, but the baselayer did not get soaked. So, I think they are as good as advertised. Although, I’d recommend that you move up one size because I’m typically a M in baselayers and the L the core fits perfect.

I wish they’d say shove it to Sitka and get the OptiFade Forest! I bought the C4E line here on CamoFire and it made me curious to see how Sitka was because I like the pattern. But, I love the feel of the C4E stuff way better, then again the mimicry has grown on me.

As Chris said, Optifade forest would be ideal! Anything that fits into the North East big woods a little more. The mountain mimicry is nice, but I feel it’s a little light in color for the areas I hunt.

Kendall, not sure if you seen my post from a few days ago….I had mentioned how much I LUV my Sitka Incinerator Jacket that I got off Camofire and was wondering if you will maybe get the matching Incinerator Bibs that go with it? Fricken freezing down here in Canada elk hunting! Okay I’m making do with my Sitka base layer pants, Core4 merino camo base layer and Core4 element element pants….not bad for only in -10 C. I’ve geared up off Camofire for a fraction of the price…..thx Camofire! I luv this site!
