A little help from the wise….. What are the big differences in the ascent pant and the 90%? Will the ascent pant with a base work just as well in 20 degree weather? Going on a hunt with the lows forecasted in lower 20′s and highs 50. Thanks for the help.

Matt – the ascent has no insulation and the 90% pant has a thin layer of fleece. Other than that , not much difference from my perspective. Do I own both? Yes. Do I think an ascent pant with a base layer under it is about the same? That’s what I hunted with today in lieu of the 90% pant.

Hey Kendall, I like my 90% gear a ton. Are you going to get some black 90% jackets in so I can wear Sitka all the time? And I remember a post a couple weeks back about ProBars. Are we going to see them on CF anytime soon? Thanks!

Tony – yes, we’ve got some black 90% jackets that we’ll offer up soon. And thanks for the reminder about PROBAR – I ate one today while out elk hunting this morning. I’ll talk to those guys and bring the deal to Camofire.

I’ve been eye balling these pants in Cabelas Clearance cave and when they came up on here for $60 less I couldn’t pass up the opportunity, even though the inseam is 4″ to long. Will there be an issue when I hem these pants?
Can’t wait for the jacket to become available, might have to wait to go to bed till after I place the order to assure the right size this time. Any clue’s as to when they’re going to be put up?

Ray – we had a customer do this with hemming up these pants: His seamstress cut above the zipper around the calf, cut out 2″ and then sewed it back together so it accomplished hemming them up without having to mess with the zipper. Price tag from his seamstress – $14. He took the pants to Alaska on a sheep hunt and said they were perfect.

I need these up in a medium or small Kendall.. Do you think these or the ascent pants are better for early season bowhunting in California?

Jacob – the Ascent pants are for sure better for early season bowhunting anywhere – even Alaska. You would roast in the 90%. Plus if it did get chilly you could put a layer under the ascent pant.

How about any storm front or cold front jackets?

Travis – Sitka Storm front or Cold Front are so new and with the optifade pattern they have sold out at retail pricing around the country. Sitka is out of most if not all of them. Better snag that stuff at retail if you want it cause the chances of a top end piece like that landing on Camofire in the very near future is gonna be like shooting a boone and crocket buck from your back porch. (slim chance)
