Today’s First Hunting Deal: SITKA JETSTREAM JACKET

Suggested Retail Price: $317.90
Camofire Price: $174.50 – 45% OFF
Description:
Taking comfort and quality construction to the next level is the Jetstream Jakcet from Sitka. It’s built with Gore’s WINDSTOPPER laminate that is impenetrable by hurricane winds and to make things better it’s lined with some of the most plush fleece liner a hunter could imagine.
The outer soft shell layer is quiet for when you’re moving in for the kill or happen to reach for your optics. Treated with a DWR finish, the Jetstream will keep you free from most water situations including the late season snows. The Jetstream Jacket is also built with the new Optifade Camo built in partnership with GORE⢠patterned after the way that deer and elk and other undulates see, verses what looks good on the shelf.
Wanna disappear along a windy ridgeline and still stay warm? Grab the Jetstream from Sitka.

I own this jacket and I can say it is NOT quiet and it is not fleece lined entirely. 75% of the liner is some type of crushed velour stuff that has little to no loft. I find the 90% gear warmer overall. As well as the 90% gear being almost completely silent! I do have to say though that the jetstream is more water repellent than the 90%.
One mans honest review…

Great review Archie! Gotta tell it how it is, no matter how you slice it honesty is the best approach. Thanks for sharing that.

Seems the popular sizes run out the door! Missed out on the 90% pants the other day even though I “pulled the trigger” in time! Damnit, I have to get faster fingers for my info!
Will any more 90% in Mothwing be coming through the door any time soon?

I love Camofire, and when sitting at the computer with a combined shipment queued up I find I will be a bit more impulsive about my purchasing – especially for smaller items (stocking stuffers). Since I am doing this it seems the site is vapor-locking on items that aren’t selling – like expensive jackets with only size small remaining or silk baselayer so big you could make a parachute out of it.
I would think you would put together some metrics so if things are not moving you could move on to something else. Drop the price later on those other things or have a “smalls” day. Smalls Day (or XXL Day) could really be good now that you have combined shipping.
Next please (reaching for wallet)

what happened to the 46-50 chest range on the sizing chart for these real tree jackets?

I want to know what the obsession is with Sitka. I’m not criticizing it because I don’t know. Maybe it’s just a western U.S. thing. But how would Sitka stack up in 0-5F freezing rain/snow with sub-zero wind chills. That’s with sitting still in a stand all day long. The stuff doesn’t seem to be too insulated but I don’t know.

Nick, sitka is for lack of better words, meant for a guy who is NOT going to sit on stand for 10 hours a day. The gear performs great under completely oposite conditions. If your climbing, moving and need to be able to change up for different conditions, be it environmental or physical, the sitka gear excels. Sure some of the line up is marketed for stand hunting or extream foul weather, and it will work great, but layered up, thats the whole idea, on and off with layers as needed.

Nick, I think the “obsession” is two-fold. 1. Sitka was, to my knowledge, the first company to make really technical, really good clothing geared for the avid, active, and mainly mountain hunter. It is like most of the kind of gear that we Westerners rely on for any mountain sport i.e. backcountry skiing, hiking, backpacking, etc. 2. they market the hell out of it!
Now I don’t own much Sitka gear, just a celsius jacket I bought here. I used last weekend and it was quite nice. $300+ nice? I would never pay retail price for it (because I couldn’t!). The camo, er, concealment patterns are cool, but I don’t even like to wear camo.
I bought it because I was sucked into the hype and because for $160 on here, it was a great deal. As for the down jackets and vest and the layering stuff, I feel like there are plenty of companies that make just as good, warm, durable gear for a lot less money. Sierra Design, Terramar, REI, even Patagonia sells the same stuff – not in camo – for less – RETAIL, I mean. But for the prices here, you will not get better gear for your money!
But as long as Kendall and the camofire crew continue to offer such great prices and superb service, I’ll keep coming back.

def. need to layer with sitka if sitting still. i’ve had the celsius line (vest, jacket, and bibs) for 2 years now. If you’re in a stand it’s good for nothing below freezing or if the wind is blowing more than 10mph. Gotta layer – i do at least three layers including the sitka top layer when on stand if it’s below freezing – preferrably with a windstopper mid layer. good luck!

I just got back from a 9 day elk hunt in Montana. We are in the middle of our first state wide winter spell and I spent most of the time in the mountains in zero or below 0 weather. It was windy and snowy. I have a the nimbus jacket and with a windstopper vest and an u.a. cold gear shirt, I could sit on the ridge for few hours before getting cold, Or I could walk and not get overly sweaty and chilled. Sitka Gear is great stuff, and I believe in the West, it is tough to beat. I am waiting on the Celsius bibs to come back!!. I would think that if you layer for your environment, the Sitka line will work anywhere. I for one am a believer in it, and I am a gear junkie!! I run a search and rescue team for my county and backpack and hunt all year long. Good gear is paramount for me, and for the price, Sitka is awesome!
