The Hunt Jr. Merino Wool socks from Lorpen are perfect for young hunters thanks to the temperature-regulation the the merino/acrylic combination. This also means it will wick moisture well as the temps rise or you simply are putting on the miles.
As a midweight sock, they are built with itch-free merino wool which will keep little feet comfortable in a variety of weather conditions. The flat-knit toe seam with cushioned heel and forefoot are technical features that you and your young hunting buddy will appreciate. Great gear isn’t just for adults and top notch socks are a great place to start outfitting the next generation of hunters.

CamoFire,
I noticed it has been a year since you’ve run a Gold Tip hunter XT 7595, are you planning on running any before August, if not, any Easton Axis that would be around 8.9 grains per inch?

Kendall, are you planning on having the Badlands Bino Bivy? A question, and a suggestion…

My money says that Badlands will NEVER sell us the bino bivy. Reason being is that they can’t even keep it in stock at full retail so why let it go for less?

FYI – This is the last of the Badlands Super Day packs. We won’t get them again in the warehouse as word on the street is that Badlands is not making Max 1 again.

So can you give us the low down on Canadian shipping?

Dave – Here is the skinny on the Canadian shipping: We’ve teamed up with a new shipping service that we believe will reduce Canadian shipping costs by around 50% of what they are now. The orders will be taken to the border and then enter Canada post for delivery. At the moment you guys in Canada pay duties and taxes at the door, correct? We’ll charge this at checkout with this new shipping method. The other thing is the shipping time should go down by a couple of days as well.
We were hoping to launch this Wed or Thur of this week, but found a few more bugs in the code. So we’re tentatively (and I use that word liberally) looking at Tues/Wed of next week.
IF all things are good after the first month of testing, we will roll out the combined shipping for Canadians. It’ll be something similar to the Alaskan customers (hopefully around $1.99-$2.99 per item after the first order).
If you’re a Canadian (anyone on the forum) PLEASE tell me your thoughts on this info above. We have gone to battle for this as the shipper we’re using usually requires 100′s of shipments per day (not quite there on Canadian only orders) to use it but we’ve kinda promised them the moon if they’ll give us this shot.

That sounds like exactly what I’m looking for, a cheaper way to spend my money. The cheaper shipping will definitely help to keep the smaller items in the “good deal” category by the time they get here. As for paying duty and taxes at the door, that’s news to me. anytime I’ve ordered, I just pay the Camofire price, and the Camofire shipping cost, and pick it up at the post office when it gets here. But the shipping I imagine is a fair bit steeper that for those in the lower 48. But it looks better now though. Example: the steering wheel cover up now is $11.82 for shipping. Haven’t bought anything in a little while, but I’d guess it would have been closer to 20 before. High five on the great work Kendall and Co.!

Hey Kendall – sounds great! That shipping (along with any duty/taxes) often really takes away from your awesome prices. However, the new system might be a bit of a wash in the end.
The way it normally worked was that when you ship to us, and then Canadian Customs processes the package at the first Canada Post distribution centre: sometimes they look at the package, in which case they charge a $9 “handling fee,” plus provincial/federal sales tax, plus duty if the product is not made in North America (duty free under NAFTA), which we then pay at delivery at the post office or home; sometimes they don’t look at the package (i.e., it passes through the system, maybe because they can’t look at every package they get) and we get an awesome deal where the only hurt is the high Canadian shipping cost that Camofire has had to pass on.
However, now that duty/taxes will be paid by us up front during Camofire order placement, we won’t have that once-in-a-while package that squeaks through without duties and taxes. But, shipping costs will be lower and transit time should be shorter – so maybe a wash for single orders, but likely cheaper with combined orders!
Thanks to going to bat for us Canadians, Kendall!!

Ryan and Slinger – thanks for the input. We truly appreciate it.
So I just ran a “test” order for one of our more “addicted to Camofire” Canadian customers and the total was $11.62. That IS the TOTAL of shipping AND duties and taxes. I have yet to talk to the programmers to be sure, but based on the numbers I was given that sounds about right. The tax is higher for clothing than it is for non clothing, so watch for clothing items to be taxed a little higher.
Bottom line is if that is the total with duties and taxes as I believe it is, then it’s much more than a wash because before that order for one steering wheel cover would have been $22-$25 shipped with the possibility of still paying tax and “handling fee” (they call that extortion in non governmental circles)

The possibility of combined shipping sounds great along with lower shipping prices I am expecting money to fly out of my wallet pretty quickly. I have never had to pay anything extra on top of my checkout price but if over all shipping comes down I am happy. I also thought shipping was extremely quick so if it is the same or better its a plus. Either way thanks for the great work campfire crew!
