I purchased the SOG camp saw. It is well made but the cut is fine which makes it fairly slow for cutting brush and limbs.

I see a lot of SOG on discount sites lately. Woot has them often and steepandcheap regularly carries the SOG line. It’s almost like they are dedicating product lines to the discounters. Can anyone speak to the quality of the models being offered such as initial quality, quality of materials, quality vs comparable priced knives, etc?

As I posted earlier. I have the SOG Flash II. I have had it for about 6 years and carry/use it daily. I have put this knife through it’s paces and the only complaint is that the pocket clip is slightly loose. The metal and work quality are top of the line. I can’t wait to get my hands on the seal pup!

Mike – Good observation. They fell under new ownership last year and I think one marketing strategy for them is to give discounters (like Camofire) the opportunity to offer certain models at different times in the year the chance to sell more of their knives. From a production standpoint it helps lower their overall cost and from a marketing standpoint it gets more knives into user hands. I do see how it could and does perhaps cheapen the brand and give the perception of a cheap knife. I personally carry in my hunting pack 1 of 2 SOG’s along with a small CRKT and a Benchmade. Each has its purpose for me, each is top of it’s class in my opinion. There’s my $.02.

Well, got the seal pup i wanted, man it seems today has been the only day in a while that the product list has caught my eye and wanted multiple items and it is taking forever. I would have thought the knife days would sell quicker. All i want is the trident and i can go to bed .

I bought a SOG trident three years ago and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I bought the Twitch II and the Aegis Tanto. SOG has become my everyday carry. Now just looking for a good deal on a SOG SEAL TEAM ELITE………
