Experience Story with Images (bloody images – you’ve been warned)
Description:
When Epek designed the XC-3 they took the approach that a mechanical broadhead should be easy to practice and effective to hunt with, relying on pin-point accuracy in both situations. With a simple change of a set screw, you can put the XC-3 broadhead into practice mode and the blades will not deploy. Release the screw and you’re ready to rock that big buck’s world!
It uses the durability of a solid piece of hardened aluminum as the body with three blades. Not only will the flight of this concealed blade broadhead allow you to place your pin on the spot you want to hit, it allows you to get your arrow to that exact spot.
The bone shattering chisel point ensures the EPEK X-C3 will not wedge in to ribs, shoulder blades or gristle. The larger diameter of the EPEK X-C3 and the extreme cutting angles of the deployed blades allow for deep penetration with minimal arrow drag. If you want the best opportunity to get two large holes on either end of the wound channel then it’s time to step up to the EPEK X-C3.

Kendall, wish I could give these BH’s a try, unfortunately I live in WA and mechanicals are taboo. They do look like a good design, oh and a great price

Rick and Ray – got it! I’ll be digging up a fixed blade for you guys that live in a more civilized state where killing of an animal is done in a more humane way.

An incredible, penetrating mech bh that I found on ebay for cheap and might be a good candidate is the Innerloc EXP 3 blade (also marketed under Fuse). For some reason (likely marketing) they are not that popular, but they are a great bh (2 for 2 with a bad top of rib cage and through entry). I would buy 3 packs!

Kendall, I am another northwest hunter who could bennefit from a fixed blade deal. Have you ever looked into Magnus Broadheads. I have heard great things about the stinger and buzzcut and have recently thought about seeing for myself.

Kendall,
My husband I both archery hunt in Colorado. I watch this site like crazy and cannot beleive the great deals we have got! In fact, I just ordered the arrows. I noticed the guys are asking for a fixed blade broadhead. If you can get something like that it would for sure be a quick sale up here in Colorado!! Also, ever think about putting something up here for the women who hunt….. Thanks

I like the idea just have a question. I just swaped to a mechanical blade. I have killed one elk with a spifire. I have always been leary of mechanical due to the fact that when the arrows backs out the blade closes. I like the idea of a arrow cotinous cutting motion while the animal is moving. Does the epek-xc3 have the ability to stay open when the arrow is moving inside?
Thank YOu
David
