I have these boots and I think they are a good value at this price. I’ve only worn them hunting about 6 times, so take that for what it’s worth.
Pros:
- Comfortable to walk in
- Easy on, easy off
- Waterproof (so far, so good)
- Good traction
- I like the shorter height because they don’t make your entire lower leg sweat like full height rubber boots can do on a warm day. The tradeoff is that you have to be careful not to step in water that’s too deep. I did that once…
- They run a tad big as the description says. I normally wear a size 13 wide shoe. I ordered these in size 13 and they are roomy enough to wear a heavy wool sock over a liner if I want to.
Cons:
- They have the strongest rubber smell of any boot I’ve ever purchased. They smell like a new set of tires. You will need to wear them around in the field for a while before the rubber smell fades. Just setting them outside on the porch to air out doesn’t get it done.
- The insoles are pretty much worthless. The bottom side of the insoles started to disintegrate shortly after I started wearing the boots. The good news is they are removable insoles, so just factor in that you will most likely have buy some good insoles to replace the poorly made ones that come with the boots. I’ve already replaced mine.
I like them for whitetail or turkey hunting in farm country or hill country as long as I’m not likely to have to cross deeper water. In those cases I wear my full height Muck boots.
