The description says insulated, but doesn’t say how many grams, so how many grams? Also, do you know if the Crispi Wild boots you sell are insulated or uninsulated? If insulated, how many grams? Thanks, love the website!!!

Thomas – Here’s the long answer which I hope is helpful.
Crispi doesn’t use Thinsulate insulation so there isn’t a grams of insulation measurement to pass along. The way that thinsulate is applied to the Goretex sleeve in order for it to adhere requires basically a layer of glue that impairs the Goretex sleeve’s ability to breath because now you’ve got a layer of essentially plastic on top of the Goretex sleeve which makes it waterproof yes, but breathability suffers. So what they do is use a weaved foam (for lack of a better term – I forget the actual term) and the glue is put down as a “dot-matrix” pattern so that the foam is attached to the Goretex sleeve and yet still allows the Goretex to breath.
As for the R-rating (insulation rating, not movie
) of the foam, Crispi has told us that because of the increased breathability your foot doesn’t sweat which allows you to go to a colder temp than an equivalent Thinsulate which includes a sweaty/wet foot. What that means is most hunters should be able to comfortably wear this boot to 20 degrees F and by the same token it can be worn comfortably into warmer temps (75 degrees) because breathabilty of the Goretex sleeve with the foam/glue application has increased the range of performance.
So to answer your question directly, there aren’t grams of insulation, just a range of ideal temp use from 20 degrees to 75 degrees. It’s a new way of thinking about insulation in boots.

Kaleb – I wish, but I’ve already been told by Crispi “don’t even think about it” because they are so new to the market. Sorry.

Re: the upcoming Nikon spotting scope … looks like this is without the tripod. Do you have any combined “kits” with tripod available? Thanks, Tom

Thanks Kendall, that cleared it all up nicely. Now one more question, do you foresee you selling any of the other boots Crispi has, for example Idaho GTX or Wyoming GTX?? Thanks again.

you guys must be VERY excited about the fenix flashlight. I’ve gotten 3 or 4 text messages letting me know it listed…lol

Hah! Sorry about that. I changed the title by removing the word “kit” and then realized it was with the belt clip flashlight holder so I put “kit” back in there. The text feature works by realizing a change was made to the site content. We sold a pile of them, so perhaps I should do that more often! (funny for me, not so funny for the text recipients I know. Sorry guys)

Do you still have any crispi yukons in 10.5 or 11. Does anyone know how the crispi fit compared to kenetrek? (I wear a 10.5 in the kenetrek, but an 11-11.5 in normal shoes)
Thanks,
Kaleb

just got my fenix flashlight in the mail today. This thing is awesome! Its even smaller than I thought it would be which will be perfect for keeping it light in my pack. The clip on it is perfect to clip on my hat, and since it’s so light, it doesnt bug me at all to have it on my bill and eliminates me packing a headlamp as well! Thanks for scoring these lights kendall!
