I wear a size medium in switch back pants. Should I get the same size in the element pants?

I have the element pants and they run small. I have a 34 waist and usually I am between a med and a large. The large element pants a tight on me.

I wear a 32 in jeans and slacks.. I have a medium in the switchback that fit just right, I went with the Large in the elements for some room to layer and it worked out perfect and they still dont feel big or oversized.
When I messured them the Large in the elements only added about 1.25″ at the waist over the Medium switchback pants

Well i wear about a 31 in jeans and the switch back in a med are a tad big. Just enough to layer under if i want. So i may want a med in element as well huh???

How true to size does the Core4Element pivot base layer run? I usually wear a medium shirt, but sometimes a large fits better. What do you suggest?

the body of the pivot fits very true and has a very comfortable cut, the sleeves are tapered to fit tighter on the forarms for bowhunting.
I love them but some guys with big muscular forarms have said they fit a little too tight. It is a great shirt to pair with the switchback and tek hat for turkey season or summer scouting.

Nate – I think you’re referring to the Assault Shirt which has more tapered sleeves than the Pivot. At least that’s how mine fit. The body fits true to size and is comfortable. Like you said, awesome for turkey when it’s warm or archery in the late summer/fall with the Switchback and Tek hat.

How warm are the elements? I’ll be hunting early and late season, so my temp range will be from ~20-75 degrees. If I open up the vents, will they still be too warm for mid 70′s?

Fallout – I wore the Elements last year in 70-80 degree weather as a test here on the East Coast, they were warm, but the vents worked much better than I expected. I was hiking a pretty hilly 3-D range with 15 points over several times to get a feel for the heat and being on the move over 2-3 miles. The material seems to breath very well, I’d use them for late summer-early Fall if I was limited to only one pant. The Swithback is a true light warm season only pant, the Element can do warm weather if you are not working overly hard. 2 cents..

Outstanding. Thanks for the quick response and also for your help over the phone this morning Greg. Camofire has been a breeze to work with. Do you guys expect to have the element jacket up anytime soon?

vents work VERY well and I’ve never seen them built into any other line of camo. when it gets warm I wear the switchback but if your looking for one pair to kinda do it all the Elements should work well for you.

No large in mountain mimicry in the Switchback pant until May/June. Every size that you see on the site is what we have in our inventory

Man I waited all day for the element pants and no XL. Guess I will have to wait some more.

I typically west 30X32 jeans. Would you go with medium or medium tall for the element pants?

What is the coldest you would hunt from a tree stand with the element pants? With one Merino base layer, and then the pants?
Also, would you recommend these or the Sitka Mountain pants? I just bought them, but they haven’t shipped yet.

I hunted with these pants in 15 degree weather. Granted, I was hiking but the kept the chill off me. They are not insulated so if you are sitting in a treestand, the pants are probably good to the 30′s or so.

Greg, thanks for the input.
Did you have an opinion on these vs the Sitka’s?

I haven’t worn the Sitka’s except in the store but I like the C4E Element of the Sitka 90 line.
As far as treestand hunting, the element pants with the merino wool base layer gets me to the 30′s. But for me, my legs never get cold – its either my torso or extremities.

The other Brother Greg…with Kendall on this one. I love my Sitka Gear, but Core4 has won me over with fit and durability over Sitka. I used the Core4 line in Idaho last Fall on a mutli-day elk hunt, we saw temps in the 70s and down in the 20s with a lot of rain and some snow, and Core4 kept me dry and warm thru all. Did a stupid hike (who’s gonna go down in the canyon and push the elk out?) and soaked my Core4 Merino layer, stopped and swapped the wet one for a dry layer and never missed a beat. I’m a thick build, in reasonable physical shape, but I find myself “guessing” what the Sitka size will really be, haven’t had that problem with my Core4 buys on Camofire. And the price break can’t be beat, especially if you are looking for MM camo. 2 cents..

Greg and Kendall
Sounds good enough to give C4E a shot. Have ya’ll tried the Switchback pant in addition to the Element pants? You didn’t have the Element in my size today, so I will have to wait till May. But you do have the Switchback. Would you recommend it as much as the Element pant, but for warmer climate?

Eric – I was in Alberta, late Nov in a treestand with the First lite thicker merino base layer on and I think the Core4 190 Merino base layer. It was windy, spitting rain/snow so around 30-35 degrees. After about two hours I was getting chilled and after 3 hours I was downright ready to bail. My feet were wicked cold (just had my Danners on and not my 1000g Muck Boots) so that could have had something to do with it too.Thankfully my buddy called and had a huge buck down so I hit the eject button and headed over to help him clean it out and haul it.
I own the Mountain Pants and the Element Pants and have hunted in both. If I could only have one pant, it would be the Element. That said, the Mountain is lighter weight and in my opinion does a bit better as it’s warm, but the thigh vents on the Element pants are more effective than I thought they would be.

What is the sizing on the merino beanies like? I have a small head and the beanie that came with the Element pants and jacket (my favorite early season elk gear) was quite a bit large for my pinhead. Curious on the sizing for the merino beanie. Thanks

Ok I have the C4E Assault shirt(love it), but whats the main difference between the pivot shirt? They look exactly the same. Can someone help me out?

All,
I am from Alberta and it can get downright cold here! i do and have used my core4 elements in all conditions. I would say for most stand conditions the element pants worked for me…down to about -5c – -10c (sorry don’t know farenheit
) provided you have a good base layer (i have the c4e merino but the 190 should be a thicker layer…Greg/Kendall pass that on to c4e for me) would be better, proper insulated boots and a warm coat/hat (The element coat is not warm enough at these temps…for me). for the really cold i use the sitka incinerator….love that stuff! I also bought the c4e primoloft cold gear and cannot wait to try it out as well. I will probably use the coat with the element pant.
I have nothing but good things to say about c4e anf camofire!
