Need help with the sizing of the element pants. I wear a 40 waist in all my pants, but when i measure my waist with a tape it is 44″. what size do i get?

I wear a 38 to 40 inch Levi’s. I measured my waist and it was 42-43 inch. I ordered the 42, and it was a little snug which was fine since I knew I would be losing weight. So If you measure (double check the measurement), and you don’t think you will lose any weight, then order what your measurement reads. Maybe even a size larger if you think you might gain weight.
For those of you that haven’t noticed, you can hold two pairs of Levis or other pants next to each other that are the exact same size, and one might be an inch or so wider. I don’t understand why the exact same size isn’t always the same within the same company/model of pants, but that is the way it is.
FYI: So far I like the build quality of the Element Pants/Jacket and the Switchback. That being said, I haven’t used the Elements outside yet, and only used the switchback for checking my Trail Camera.
Also, I can tell you that the C4E Merino underwear is not good. I ordered 3 pairs about 45 days ago, and 2 of them are unraveling at the seams. Maybe I got a bad batch, but I am very unhappy with the for $15 each.

Eric – you very likely had a bad batch. Please let us know by taking photos of them and we’ll get you a credit. We’ve talked to Core4 and they have addressed it with their factory that it was a bad batch on the undies – at the sewing not the fabric itself. Which is part of why we’ve not seen them yet. They also went to what they are calling “Alpine Merino” which is a merino/poly blend at the fiber level when the fabric is spun. This will feel a little bit lighter, may be a hair cooler, wicks super good and will be stronger at the seams than the 100% merino boxer. I’ve been testing an Alpine Merino 1/4 zip top for the past 8 months and have really liked it. I really hope these changes to the boxer will make you and others smile!

I had talked to Greg about one of the pairs, and then a week later, I noticed a 2nd pair with a thread unraveling. I will send you/greg some photos of both pairs. I’ve bought almost everything that C4E offers, including the Cold Gear, and so far, this is the only item I am unhappy with.

I’m very interested in these pants, but a little un-certain of the sizing. Normally I wear 33-34 inch waist, but with a tape I’m 38” could this be right.

I ordered a couple sizes in the past to see what fit me best. According to my notes the 42 was fit me. Since I do not have a tape measure here at work I used a yard stick and measured what I have my belt at instead. 42 is what it measured.

I picked up my element pants in June and ordered the 34″ based on the tape. I wear a 32″ waist in my Carhartt jeans (which were a little snug at the time)…..lost a few pounds since then. The 34″ elements fit me perfect and lived up to what the tape was telling me. I would almost suggest bumping up a size if your concerned…..I figure that is why they were throwing in the Talus belt.
I’m not really sure why some of you have such huge discrepancies in your jean sizes and the tape size? Based on my experience, do what Greg suggests and live by the tape.

Doug – yes, we’ll have the Element pant and jacket in Max 1 which are both new for 2012. Along with that is the Switchback pant, Assault shirt, Pivot Shirt(also new for 2012). We just got the Tek hat in Max 1 and are waiting on images and will have those on the site. We realize archery season is only days away and we’re doing our best to get the best gear on the site that is currently available. Thanks for your patience.

Robert, I saw a few element jackets yesterday 8/14/12 at the Core4 retailer (JAX in Colorado, Ft. Collins and Loveland locations) now on sale for $125.00 . I bet they can seil/ship to you. I bought mine from camofire last time up- they are quaility.

Just picked up almost everything c4e offers last night and i am stoked i have been a die hard sitka fan for years and thought I would give this stuff a try and i will say the quality is awesome and they have thought of everything knee pads,pockets,vents for breathing and fit. I will be selling my sitka gear and ordering C4E from now on so if your debating this stuff PULL THE TRIGGER and you won’t be disappointed.
