I am in need of a new pack but I live in New Mexico. So a hunt in the snow is only about 1 out of 10 hunts. You guys think this pack could be painted somehow or just not worry about the snow camo?

I’d be interested in what the other guys would say but the fact of the matter is unless you’re hauling in for a multi-day backcountry hunt this pack will be your go to pack for hauling out an animal when camo pattern may not be a huge concern. Then again, it’s snowing here in Utah so I could be biased. Not sure about the painting of it…. anyone got some thoughts on this?

It is there 10th Anniversary Backpack. That is a really cool item to have on here. Wish you would throw Sitka’s Coldfront jacket and pants on here in Optifade, and with great items like this it won’t be long…I hope!

I wasn’t thrilled on the snow camo either…But for the price I couldn’t hold off. I thought about paint, but then I’d be worried about scent. I’m just not going to worry about the camo pattern. Like Kendall said, I will use this pack primarily for packing out animals and for bivy trips. Rarely will I use it as a day hunting pack, and when I do, it will probably be laying on the ground next to me as I would prefer to not shoot my bow with it on my back.

I was thinking of using this as a day pack so the pattern would be a concern. I think Ill wait and hopefully a 2800 or something similiar will come on soon. Thanks for the advice and great website Kendall.

Hey Guys,
I thought the same thing about the snow camo,mine too will be for hauling purposes in and out,not hunting with it on my back.So,I think I’ll pickup a Eberlestock rain fly($20) or make one out of some waterproof camo material.Just too good of a deal not to pull the trigger!

This site is awsome! I would like to see the badlands 4500 in something other than the snow camo also. But you really can’t complain for the price. I missed it this time, but I plan to keep my eyes open for the next time it comes up.

I bought my 4500 pack here at Camofire and there are a few places I go during the bowhunt where I don’t want to be seen, esp by people. I did buy the snow camo so I ran to Walmart where they’ve got the mesh realtree camo sacks. I just tie the cloth sack over while I hike up. The price on the Badlands pack was definitely worth it, so getting a little $10 cloth bag to tie over was well worth it for a change in camo.
