Well, someone wasn’t paying attention today and missed out on the fat boy waders. I like my waders like my beer- Stout. Who am I kidding, if it says beer, I’m probably gonna drink it.

So are you poking fun at the other “fat boys” or are you lamenting your own erroneous ways of missing the stout size? FYI, I just heard that Kavik has a couple of XL Stout in stock that they didn’t offer us so we’ll re-run these in a week or so as a mid day item with the XL Stout.
Speaking of stout – you guys still want the Big Boy day here on Camofire? I’ve got quite a list going of stuff we will blow out. Let me know if there is some interest.

I have never heard of Kavik. Their website is pretty meager, is this a new company just getting started or one on it’s way out? I’ve gone through a lot of waders, quality control in breathables is utmost important. Thanks!

Are these a Camo Fire special? As in, Camo Fire is the only place on the face of the earth that sells Kavik Waders from South Jordan, Utah? I’ve never heard of these guys, and finding any information on them beyond this site and a couple other mirror sites is a pretty difficult task. Found a few reviews and they were negative, so I’m a more than a little weary of these things.

John – yea, I think their website could use some help. These guys primarily manufacture top line waders for companies like Sportsman’s Warehouse and other box style locations in the Pacific Northwest. Some are under the Kavik brand, others are under the “house” brand for those stores. These guys have flown under the radar for a few years (been building waders for around 5-6 years) and are just starting to push the Kavik name more and wanted to have us offer up some deals as a way to further introduce them to the market.
If I didn’t know these guys personally, knowing that they themselves are hyper critical of their hunting and fishing gear, as well as having seen these waders I likely would have told them no thanks.
Hope that helps John.

le duex – where are the negative reviews? I’d like to see them. Could be valid, could be only the negative experiences are the ones being shared (as often is the case in most things in life).
I found this one:
http://www.oregonfishingforum.com/other-stuff-related-fishing/16444-waders-again.html
One of the guys with Kavik fishes more than a retired guy does and he uses this exact wader. Well, of course he’s going to use his own product, but he said they’ve held up to all his trips to the PNW as well as fishing around here, in Idaho, Montana, etc.
They do have a 1 year warranty with the waders, for what that’s worth. I’m not familiar with other brand’s warranties. Anyone got insight to other wader companies warranty time lines?

Kendall, the only reviews I could find were negative. Three of them: 2 reporting major leaks in the heal, and 1 saying they felt incredibly “cheap”. Why are you taking this so personally? I just pointed out the obvious after someone asked about the company. The obvious being: the brand seems to have appeared out of nowhere, the brand has zero market share and not a single retailer on the internet selling them (besides you), and they don’t even have an address, just a P.O. box right next door to your Headquarters. Coincidence? Maybe! I don’t really care either way, I just pointed what I could (more like couldn’t) find. For all I know they could be the best waders ever! What’s weird is how they can have an MSRP, then a 51 percent discount if they’re not even sold anywhere! I wouldn’t think it would be so hard to find any credible information at all for a company that has been selling waders for 5-6 years at big box stores like Sportsman’s Warehouse.

Le Deux – Perhaps I came off wrong – I wasn’t taking it personally. I nor Camofire is in any business or personal relationship with Kavik. Yep, we know them cause they are local.
My responses were simply to try and flesh out as much info for anyone wondering since there is so little known and my reply to you was sincere in that I want to see the negative reviews so that again, everyone can make the best decision whether or not to purchase these waders. I’d hate to have a customer buy them and then say they were junk or that they then found some negative reviews after the fact.
The waders they sell in the big box stores are usually branded with the big box store name/house brand.
I appreciate the honest dialogue, I truly do.

Thanks, Kendall. I sent my brother the link. He doesn’t fish a helluva lot and for the price, they are worth testing the one year warranty. Personally, I would not go with a breathable wader I didn’t know anything about. I fish a lot and though I don’t think I’m hard on gear, I went through two or three pairs of reputable brands’ breathable waders in three years before biting the bullet and dropped $300 on the industry “best”. Having damp shoulders due to a break down in your jacket’s coating is one thing, when waders start taking water, well then whats the point?

Kendall – yes, a big boy day for size XL and above would be nice.
A good quality, small, affordable IR trail cam that has a respectable trigger time and that will accept at least an 8GB SDHC card would be even better. Hint: the Spypoint FL-A and Spypoint IR-5 both meet these specifications.

….also, if I didn’t already have a Terramer base layer shirt I would definitely be adding it to my combined shipping order. Just throwing that out there to anyone considering this shirt.

Kendell, when is this FAT day going to come to pass. I need some large sizes.. I want to sport the Camofire logo too but you never have any in extra fat sizes like XXL-XXXL. Come on give us large and in charge hunters a break and bust out the tent sizes ha ha!!!

I just bought a pair of kavik waders as I live in the PNW so yes they did have them in the store. My first impressions of them were decent styling and as I held them in my hands the quality actually felt pretty good not cheap at all. I got a pretty good deal on them and Im pretty happy with them. Don’t have anything bad to say about them but if something does arise other than a trout like a rip or tear ill let you guys know. Hope this helps-Josh
